SHIFU production

Shifu Production

The sheets of Lokta paper of finest quality are cut into required sized strips, which are then manually spun into thread by using traditional spinning wheels locally known as Charkha. This operation requires the greatest skill and delicacy. The thread is treated with a natural product to make it strong enough to be woven on the traditional hand loom. The yarn is interwoven with fine cotton, silk, pashmina, yak wool or nettle yarns as to the need to give the finished Shifu cloth durability and a subtle luster.
